How Biozone Air Purifiers Work: The End Of Filters?

Anyone considering purchasing an air purifier has probably realized by now that there are dozens of different types of air purifiers from which to choose. Biozone makes many different types and sizes of air purifiers, but how do you know which one is right for you? The first thing to consider when purchasing an air purifier is where it will be placed and how it will be used. Will it be for a large living room or for a small bedroom? Will it be used in a public place or a private home? Biozone Air Purifiers might provide you some options you didn¡¯t know you wanted, like being able to clean the air in your home without filters, and, more so, without leaving a negative impact on the environment.

Honeywell¡¯s Enviracaire HEPA 50250 and Biozone 2000 Air Purifier are priced about the same. This is about where the comparisons end. The Biozone 2000 covers significantly more area (2000 compared the Enviracaire¡¯s 312 square feet). The other difference is Biozone¡¯s Photoplasma system, which uses ultraviolet technology which sanitizes the air. This makes it a completely different method of purifying air than a HEPA air purifier.

As the name would suggest, the Biozone 4000 covers about 4000 square feet and, as with all of Biozone¡¯s air purifiers is virtually silent. The low noise level of Biozone Air Purifiers to be a highly desirable trait among its reviewers as is the reasonable price.  Unfortunately, it was darn well near impossible to find a comparable Honeywell air purifier. The F500 seemed promising, but it was impossible to obtain a price without finding a licensed serviceman who would come out and give an estimate.

There are various rating systems for air purifiers. One that was intriguing was one that pitted 12 top of the line air purifiers against each other. The cheapest one on the list was $200 and the most expensive one began at $600. They were rated for their ability to remove common particulates, like dander and smoke, to more difficult particles like mold spores and viruses, from the air. Ironically, the unit that came out on top was one priced in the middle; the Biozone 2000 (Fioravante, 2003).

One might wonder how Biozone is able to do so much for, indeed, so little. The company is leading research and development in what they call Deep-UV and Photocatalytic Oxidation technology. Deep-UV, the company explains, uses light to ¡°sterilizes microorganisms¡± and Photocatalytic Oxidation destroys volatile organic compounds (think gases and chemicals) by dissolving them. Like BlueAir, Biozone, located in Helsinki, Finland, is very concerned about environmental improvement and for that reason embraces innovative solutions. Also similar to BlueAir, Biozone¡¯s air purifiers also make use of photoplasmic technology to reduce micro-organisms.

Though it sounds very much like science fiction, rather than science fact, Biozone is cutting edge technology at a price that is easily affordable by the average consumer. At these prices, it is easy to have a Biozone Air Purifier in your home and know that it will be able to sanitize the entire house in a way that not only won¡¯t harm your health, but also be good for the environment.

Do Bionaire Air Purifiers Actually Work?

By Charlie Cory
Let's start by discussing the difference between an air cleaner and an air purifier. Air cleaning is when harmful particles are filtered from the air utilizing a filter. An air purifier goes a step further and kills harmful bacteria, mold, and viruses. Ionic air purifiers are referred to as purifiers, they do not operate as purifiers because they do not kill harmful material.
